Cappadocia Tours from Istanbul
Cappadocia derived from the Persian phrase of Katpa Tuka meaning “the land of beautiful horses” is the name of a region located in the central Turkey including some parts of 5 of the 81 provinces of Turkey; Nevsehir, Kirsehir, Nigde, Aksaray and Kayseri. Cappadocia, with its natural, cultural and historical features, is one of the popular tourism centers in Turkey.
What makes Cappadocia so famous is, of course, its lunar landscape. The landscape was covered with tuff by the volcanic eruptions. Through thousands of years the landscape of Cappadocia was shaped with the forces of wind and rain erosions creating the bizarre rock formations called “the fairy chimneys“. There are different types of those such as mushroom shaped, pinnacled, capped and conic shaped formations which can be explored in our daily cappadocia tours.
Why you "must" visit Cappadocia?
Cappadocia has been inhabited since the neolithic ages, then became home for the Hittites, hosted Persians and during the Romans, Cappadocia provided valuable shelter for the early Christians. That is the reason why there are hundreds of churches and tens of underground cities carved into the rocks can be visited today. During the Byzantines, chapels and monasteries were hollowed out of the rock, their ochre-toned frescoes reflecting the hues of surrounding landscape. Even today, the landscape of Cappadocia settled by the locals, being used as houses, shops, cafes, hotels, pensions and pubs and bars.
Hot Air Ballooning in Cappadocia
The best way to observe Cappadocia is from the air. As one of the symbols of Cappadocia, the balloon tour is the best way to see the unique beauty of the region and to better understand the location of surroundings of Cappadocia that are visited during our Cappadocia tours is to take a hot air balloon tour and enjoy gliding among fairy chimneys.
Hot Air Ballooning is a very popular activity in the region so advance reservation is strongly recommended.
Cappadocia Tours Itinerary
Either you choose a one day tour to Cappadocia from Istanbul or you like to stay, we have right packages for you.
Next you will visit Pasabag the Pasha’s (means General) vineyard and also called Monks Valley, houses the most staggering fairy chimneys in Cappadocia with twin and even triple rock caps. This style is unique even for Cappadocia and those fairy chimneys are named mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys.
Lunch will be at an authentic local restaurant.
Next stop is Goreme Open Air Museum, a must-visit in Cappadocia, resembles a huge monastic complex composed of several rock-cut churches with beautiful frescoes (wall paintings) of which colors still retain all their original freshness. Goreme Open Air Museum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984.
Our Cappadocia tour continues with a visit to Uchisar Castle. The castle is the highest point in Cappadocia region and provides the imposing panaroma of the region with the volcanic Mount Erciyes (Argeus). Uchisar Castle is multi-leveled castle with rooms hollowed out into rock and connected to each other with stairs, tunnels and passages.
Our final stop is Kaymakli Underground City. Among the 36 underground cities (known!) is the largest in Cappadocia region. Kaymakli underground city consists of 8 floors but today 4 of them are open to public visit. The underground city has kitchen, stable, storage areas, winery and ventilation shafts which are connected to each other through tunnels. Kaymakli underground city proved a great shelter for early Christians of Anatolia during the Byzantines, from Arab attacks.
End of one day package. Overnight in Urgup or Goreme.

If you want a very kind and knowledgeable guide Osman Ozmen was fantastic, an excellent tour guide. He took us through the streets of Istanbul to see the Hagia Sophia,... read more the Blue Mosque and the Sultanahmet Square & Hippodrome.
Ozzy was very patient as I hurt my foot in Greece so I was walking with a cane. We watched out for me and stopped when I needed a break. He even explained about places that we were going to see a see sat and talked in the cool comfort of a coffee shop while we had a cold drink.
During the tour I realized that my water flask was missing and my husband said he must’ve left it in the coffee shop. Ozzy went back to retrieve it and told us to wait under a big tree so we don’t have to walk. Such kindness!
Oh and he took great pictures of my husband and I suggesting perfect times to take the photo.
We ate lunch at a local place where he ordered Turkish lamb kebabs for all of us, it was perfect! So delicious!
My husband wanted to buy Turkish Delights and Ozzy stopped us from making a big mistake by buying the wrong ones. He brought us to a little shop where we got real authentic Turkish Delights. It was so good!
Thank you Ozzy for making our final day on holiday in Turkey a very memorable one. You’re the best!

Had a wonderful time seeing Istanbul as a first time visitor with guide Osman Ozmen. He was knowledgeable, personable, and spoke English well! We were able to customize the itinerary... read more based on which sites were available and what was of interest. I’m so glad I chose to utilize a guide vs trying to navigate the maze of Istanbul on my own. I definitely saw more (and learned more!) through this tour. I had so much fun, we added in a second day! Highly recommended.
